MAE 5240 Physics of Micro- and Nanoscale Fluid Mechanics (also CHEME 6240)

Fall. 3 credits. Prerequisite: undergraduate fluid or continuum mechanics (e.g., MAE 3230) or permission of instructor. Co-meets with MAE 6240.

Introduction to fluid mechanics in micro- and nanofabricated devices. Physicochemical hydrodynamics, electrokinetic effects, capillarity, continuum breakdown, micro- and nanofluidic applications in chemistry and life sciences.
